Delete your account

In the app: You → Delete account. Type your email address to confirm, and your password if you have one. It happens immediately and it cannot be undone.

No longer have the app, or cannot sign in? Email [email protected] from the address on the account and say you want it deleted. You do not have to give a reason and we will not ask for one. We reply to confirm it is done — and if the request comes from an address we cannot match to an account we will say so and stop there, because the one thing worse than not deleting an account is deleting somebody else's.

What is erased

Your name, your email address and phone number, your sign-in, your devices and sessions, your payment handles, your preferences, any receipt or menu readings still attached to your account, and anything you wrote in a comment. Your address is freed, so you can open a new account with it whenever you like — closing one is not a ban.

What stays, and why

The expenses and settlements inside groups you shared with other people. Your seat becomes Deleted user — no name, no address, nothing that points back at you — but the rows themselves remain, because other people's balances are calculated from them. Removing them would silently change what your friends owe each other, months after you left, with nothing on screen to explain why the numbers moved. The record that an expense was edited stays too, with your name off it: a history somebody can delete is not a history.

Settle up first, if you can

Deleting your account does not cancel a debt and does not tell anybody you have gone. If you are owed money, or owe some, it is worth squaring that with the people involved before you ask — for their sake rather than ours.

Cancel Pro separately

A subscription is held by the App Store or Google Play, not by us, so deleting your account here does not stop it renewing. Cancel it in your store account first, where you manage every other subscription. We never see a card number and cannot cancel or refund one on your behalf.
