This is the agreement between you and Yanvara Pty Ltd (Melbourne, Australia) for using Antemate. Using the app means you accept it. It is written in plain English because an agreement nobody reads protects nobody.

Antemate records money. It does not move it.

This is the most important sentence on the page. Antemate is a shared notebook: it works out who owes what and tells you. It never holds, transfers, escrows or takes custody of a cent, it is not a bank or a payment service, and it is not licensed as one because it does not do the thing that needs a licence. When you mark a settlement as done you are writing a note that you paid — we cannot confirm you did, and we are not a party to it.

The numbers are yours, and so are the mistakes

We do the arithmetic on what you and your group type in. If somebody enters the wrong amount, splits a bill the wrong way, or marks a payment as made when it was not, the result will be confidently wrong and it will be wrong because of what was entered. Check before you pay somebody on the strength of a balance. Disagreements about who owes what are between the people in the group.

Your account

Be sixteen or older. Give us an email address or phone number that is actually yours — adding somebody else's to a group sends them mail, and doing that to somebody who does not want it is the one thing that will get an account closed. Keep your sign-in to yourself; anything done from your account is treated as done by you.

What you write stays yours

Your expenses, notes and comments belong to you. You give us permission to store them and show them to the other people in your groups, which is the entire function of the app, and to nobody else. We do not use them to train anything, we do not sell them, and we do not read them except when you ask us to help with something specific.

Pro

Sold through the App Store and Google Play, so the payment, the renewal, the cancellation and any refund are theirs and follow their rules. Prices are on the pricing page and can change, though not for a period you have already paid for. If Pro lapses, everything that was free stays free and nothing you have already recorded is taken away or locked up.

Behaving

Do not use Antemate to harass anybody, to send somebody mail they have asked not to receive, to launder money or arrange anything illegal, or to break into it. We screen what people write and the images they upload for a small number of genuinely serious things, and we will refuse, remove and report the worst of them. We can close an account that does any of this, and will say why.

The dull but necessary part

Australian Consumer Law applies and we cannot exclude it. Nothing here limits a guarantee you have under it. What we can say is that outside those guarantees Antemate is provided as it is, we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and we are not liable for money you paid somebody, failed to collect, or lost track of.
We back up, and you should not rely only on us. The ledger lives on our servers and on your phone. We keep backups and rehearse restoring them, and we are still one company — if the history matters to you, ask us for a copy.
Either of us can stop. You can delete your account at any time — here is how, including what survives in other people's groups and why. We can close an account for the reasons above, and we will tell you which one.
These terms can change. When they do materially, we will say so rather than quietly reposting the page, and carrying on using Antemate afterwards is how you accept the new version.
